Revving Up Leadership Case Studies

  • The Pit Crew: In this case study, participants explore a pit crew experience and what working as a pit crew can teach us about building and maintaining high performance teams.
  • Driving Blind: Based on the story of British driver Stirling Moss' victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia, this case study forces participants to completely rethink the ways they communicate with those around them.

A Road Trip to VIR

Recently chosen as one of Car & Driver's Top 6 tracks in the nation, VIRginia International Raceway is a multipurpose road racing and motorsports facility located in Alton, Virginia. VIR hosts a wide range of professional and amateur auto and motorcycle racing and racetrack events, and is well established as "America's Motorsport Resort." But VIR is more than just a racetrack. Previously a working farm and plantation dating to the early 1800s, the facility opened in 1957 as one of the country's first permanent road racing circuits.

Shuttered in 1974 due to economic hardships, the track reopened in 2000 under new owners who were determined to make the venue a true "motorsports resort," a vacation destination centered around road racing.
